What to know before you grind

Sprinkler lines are the most commonly hit during a stump grinding because surface roots or runners often grow over the sprinkler lines. Water lines typically go from the meter to the outdoor spigot. Gas and telephone lines should also be checked prior to grinding. To get your lines marked for free, call 811.

Normally, we like stumps to be cut off at 4 inches or less from the ground. In some cases the stump can be ground at a higher height.
